WHAT TO DO
Camping
There are 46 sites suiting a number of users, such as tent, RV, and cabin rentals. Full hookups are available, which help during those hot summer days. Hopefully, however, your adventures involve taking advantage of the Snake or Palouse Rivers.
Consult the Lyons Ferry Marina KOA website for information.
Fishing
Trout, catfish, walleye and more are just a cast away (we wish). Fish from the dock or launch your boat into the Snake River. There is a $5 boat launch fee. Marmes Pond is located on the north side of the river just passed Lyons Ferry State Park. This pond is stocked seasonally with trout.
Fishing regulations are highly specific and based on location and species. Please always consult the latest information available from the Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife
Kayak/ Paddleboard
Launch from the campground and enjoy a day on the Snake River, or make your way across the river to Lyons Ferry State Park and paddle on the Palouse River. As a hint, the Palouse is a tad warmer than the Snake River.
WHAT TO EXPECT
This KOA is unique and unlike many of the KOA campgrounds we have come across. There aren’t any swimming pools or arcade rooms. There is much more–access to fishing, water sports, two state parks nearby (Palouse Falls State Park and Lyons Ferry State Park), a playground for kids, and even something special for the furry family members.

Regulations
Valid Washington fishing license (if fishing). Fishing licenses are available at the marina store, online via the Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife, or local retail shops such as Bi-Mart, Wal-Mart, Sportsman’s Warehouse, Big 5 Sporting Goods, Cascade Farm and Outdoor, and Dunning Irrigation.
Wildlife Awareness
We are all so fortunate to recreate in the Blue Mountains and Walla Walla Valley. So many opportunities exist to play outside, whether in a national forest, wilderness area, or on a Wild and Scenic River. With these opportunities comes great responsibility to appreciate that we are mere visitors and should all take pride in being good stewards of the wild.
Many animals call these protected places home, including moose, elk, bear, cougar, bobcat, and snakes to name a few. Take precautions to respect their home and understand the appropriate response should an encounter occur.
Additionally, many plant species thrive in the Blue Mountains, so staying on trail is always good practice.
Carry First Aid supplies to better respond to accidents or encounters, and always let others know where the day’s adventure is taking you.
Field Notes
Disclaimer: While the Outside Walla Walla team has enjoyed all the adventures listed on this site, we cannot provide real-time conditions & maintenance reports. Extreme weather can change access overnight. Volunteer groups might lose capacity to manage trail systems. We do our best to report that information and update our site accordingly, but please read our Disclaimer (footer) and proceed with any adventure as your comfort level allows.
WHEN TO GO
The KOA is open year round; however, some services may not be available over winter. We recommend making a reservation early as this campground is well utilized.
